The Danish Agriculture & Food Council invites Danish organic companies to participate at the national pavilion at BioFach China 2017 in Shanghai May 25-27 2017 .
China: A Fast-growing market for high quality organic food products
Chinese consumers experience high yearly income gains and
food retail sales are growing by double-digit percentages. With
a population of 1.3 billion and a fast growing middle class with
rising demands for food safety and quality, China has emerged
as the world’s largest consumer market for food and beverages.
By 2018, the Association of Food Industries predicts that China
will be the world’s largest consumer of imported food.
Growing Danish food exports to China
The Danish food industry has the competences to meet the
Chinese consumers’ demand for safe food of high quality. In
2014, the organic food sales in China generated approximately
3.7 billion euros, which made China the fourth largest market
in the world. The sale is expected to have reached 4 billion euro
The export of food and agricultural products from Denmark
to China incl. Hong Kong is expected to account for DKK 15
billion in 2015.
The value of the organic market in China has grown from 263
million euro in 2010 to 1,518 million euro in 2015.
However, challenges exist not only in terms of market access
for some product categories, but very much in terms of building
long lasting relations with customers and business partners.
Being present and cultivating business relations is crucial, and
participating in exhibitions is an effective as well as efficient
way of doing just so.
Danish pavilion at largest organic exhibition in China
Since 2007, BioFach China has become the most influential
organic trade fair in China. Under the patronage of IFOAM, it is
the only trade fair in China which specially focuses on certified
337 Exhibitors from 13 countries and regions participated
in BioFach China 2016, which took place in the new venue
- Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Centre. As
the top runner of Asia organic industry, BioFach China 2016
attracted 16,546 visitors.
