Join the business delegation and meet online with top Mexican pork and poultry producers, 4-5 + 25-26.10

The delegation programme offers a unique opportunity for companies along the pig and chicken value chain to tap into the vast business possibilities of the Mexican market.

The Danish Agriculture & Food Council (DAFC), the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI), EKF Denmark’s Export Credit Agency and the Danish Embassy in Mexico invite your company to join a virtual business delegation focused on the Mexican pig and poultry production industry. You get to join two seminars with two world-leading Mexican pig and poultry producers on 4-5 October. Additional online matchmaking activities with the same Mexican companies in the form of exclusive B2B meetings will take place on 25-26 October (given selection by the Mexican producers).

WHO SHOULD JOIN?
This virtual delegation puts spotlight on the pig and poultry production value chains and the Mexican market-leading companies, which are characterised by having activities both within primary production and processing activities. Participation is relevant for Danish companies operating within one of the following areas: solutions to primary pig and poultry production, breeding and genetics, agri-industry, feed stuff, stables, ventilation, food processing technology, bio security, cooling/cold chain, storage, quality control and ingredients.

WHY JOIN?
Mexico’s food & agriculture sector is expected to grow by almost 4 % in 2021. Also, the porcine industry is expected to grow this much (reaching a total production of 1,7 bn tons meat). The poultry industry will increase its production by more than 2 % (reaching an output of 3,4 bn tons).
The level of state-of-the-art technologies applied in the production processes vary among the Mexican food producers. Large producers have made investments in efficiency and remain open to explore solutions to benefit their operations, sustainability goals and social responsibility. Smaller producers will increasingly search for technological solutions which are adaptable to their specific needs.

The delegation participants will be able to meet the following Mexican companies:

Company 1: Bachoco
Bachoco is considered a leading poultry producer in Mexico, being the sixth largest poultry producer in the world. The company was founded in 1952 and is headquartered in Celaya, Guanajuato, in central Mexico.
As a vertically integrated producer, the company holds two production lines: poultry and porcine. As regards the latter, the company commercialises live pigs. It also focuses on processed products from turkey meat and  beef, as well as on balanced animal feed production sold to other poultry and cattle farmers.
In 2020, Bachoco closed a deal to acquire 54,8 % of SASA Pork, a large porcine slaughter and processing company which both sells to the Mexican market and to export markets. SASA’s two processing plants had a capacity of 1.900 hogs per day. Bachoco plans to invest $2 bn Mexican pesos ($46 m) in the pork business over the next four years. The deal also calls for SASA to acquire assets related to Bachoco’s live swine business.
