BIOGAS IN THE US
The potential for biogas project expansion in the United States is massive. While there are currently a little more than 2,200 biogas projects operating in the US, the American Biogas Council projects that this number could expand to more than 14,000 with billions of USD investment being made in the process.

The US and European Union recently joined the Global Methane Pledge. Countries that join the Pledge commit to a collective goal of reducing methane emissions by at least 30% from 2020 levels by 2030. This will provide the platform for enhanced collaboration and export potential between the US and Denmark.
The US federal and state agencies have also begun to focus more financial resources on the reduction and capture of biogas (methane) resulting from the digestion of manure, food waste and other agricultural residuals. Currently nine states have regulations in place to divert food waste from landfilling and to a higher and better use. More pressure is also being put on US farmers to reduce their carbon footprint.

Danish companies have made inroads into the US biogas market, but much remains to be done. Establishing strong relationships with US project developers, equipment suppliers, consulting engineers, and investors as well as demonstrating Danish technology solutions in person is critical to continued growth.

PRESENTATIONS, MEETINGS AND SITE VISITS
The delegation trip is an opportunity to meet important stakeholders from across the US biogas sector who will be visiting Denmark. During the trip, we will highlight Danish excellence in biogas to:

  • Promote environmental sustainability
  • Develop new business opportunities
  • Improve operational efficiency
  • Set high standards for animal health
  • Reduce operational costs at the farm

Benefits to Danish company participants include the opportunity to network with primary stakeholders from the private dairy biogas sector from the US.

Each Danish company will be given the opportunity to make a 20-minute presentation (with Q&A session) to the entire delegation in an office setting. Invited stakeholders will include approximately 12 decision makers from the US dairy biogas market to include:

  • Project developers
  • Equipment suppliers
  • Engineering, Procurement & Construction Firms
  • Consulting engineers
  • Dairy industry associations
  • Investors
  • Gas utilities

Planned meetings with the Danish Ministry of Agriculture and Food & Bio Cluster Denmark will provide an overview and perspective on growth of the biogas sector in the country.

Potential site tours to highlight Danish innovations include:

  • Novozymes Innovation Campus
  • Olstykke Food Waste Facility
  • Holsted Biogas Plant
  • Dairy Farm - TBD
  • Herjskov Maelk
  • Blabjerg Biogas Plant
  • Mansson Biogas Plant
  • Food & BioCluster Denmark – Biogas R&D Facility
  • Sindal Biogas Plant
  • Frederikshavn Food Waste Facility

If your company is interested in the US dairy biogas market, being part of this delegation will provide an ideal platform to engage and understand the drivers of the dairy biogas sector and showcase your solution.
