Agri-tech, dairy farming and pig farming, export delegation to Italy, POSTPONED TILL FALL 2023

Take part in the joint export promotion for Danish dairy and pig production technologies, which will provide your company with the opportunity to visit some of the leading dairy and pig farms in Italy.

The delegation will have 2 separate tracks, one for each of the 2 sectors, and will be an opportunity to gain an understanding of local needs and your company’s export potential to one of the largest agricultural industries in Europe: meet the farmers at the farms and pitch your solutions.

The delegation will be arranged in collaboration between The Trade Council in Italy and the Danish Agriculture & Food Council. The delegation will be supported financially by the Danish Trade Council, under the European Commission’s Brexit Adjustment Reserve, a financial facility, supporting companies affected negatively by Brexit. The 75% support has been deducted already in the price for participation.

NB! The delegation is limited to Danish companies who have been negatively affected by Brexit. You will need to fill in a form to The Trade Council, where you describe in qualitative terms how you have been affected.

To obtain subsidy, the participating companies must sign a company form which works as a statement of truth describing how the company has negatively affected by Brexit. E.g., that the company has experienced rising costs, has met new trade barriers, lost commercial possibilities, or have had a direct decrease in the export to Great Britain.

WEBINAR 16 JANUARY 10:00-11:00 am
On 16 January at 10:00 am, DAFC and the embassy in Rome invites you to a TEAMS meeting/webinar to present the program for the delegation and to reply to each of your requests.

Please register your interest by sending an email to Michael Stahlschmidt at mis@lf.dk on 13 January 12:00 noon at the latest. We shall send all interested companies an invitation link to the TEAMS meeting on 13 January in the afternoon.

FARMING IN ITALY
The Italian meat and dairy sectors are two of the largest within the EU, producing some of the most well-known products that are enjoyed by consumers across the globe. With a total production output in the range of €16 billion (4th largest in the EU) and an increased focus on technological and innovative solutions, the Italian meat and dairy sectors are optimum targets for Danish Agritech solutions.

The recent allocation of €4.88 billion (Largest in the EU) to sustainable agriculture and food production through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, is an opportunity for Italian cooperatives and farmers to modernize and streamline their production facilities.

The increased focus on technological improvements and the supply of national funds, is a great opportunity for Danish Agritech companies to provide the Italian producers with solutions that can align the farmers with the future standards of the industry.

VISITS TO DAIRY AND PIG FARMS
The participating companies will get the opportunity to visit dairy and pig farms to get a first-hand impression of how cooperatives and farms are operated across the sector in Italy.

The delegation will visit the most influential and modern farms, which will be an opportunity to assess the market potential for each of the companies. As part of the visits to local farms, delegates will have the chance to ask questions and the opportunity to pitch their own technological solutions. Ahead of the visit, the dairy and pig farmers will receive company product descriptions to ensure that the local farmers are equipped for a dialogue about the companies’ technologies and the applicability of the technologies in the local context.

  • Genetics
  • Feed
  • Equipment for feed handling

  • Stable equipment

PROGRAMME (draft)
The purpose of the delegation to Italy is for Danish companies to meet with potential Italian buyers and obtain a first-hand experience of the immense business opportunities in Italy today within the area of Agritech, considering the recent allocation of EU recovery funds. The goal will be pursued through farm visits, b2b meetings and meetings with key sectorial experts, business organizations and one-to-one meetings with relevant Italian companies with strong commercial interests in innovation.

The visit will be divided between the most important districts for agri&food in Italy, concentrated between regions such as Lombardy and Emilia Romagna.

The program is open for input from the participants as to potential farm visits etc.

Lombardy is the leading region in Italy for pig breeding. Nearly 4.4 million pigs live here - 50% of national production - but the number of farms only accounts for 9% of the total, and this is because pig breeding in Lombardy is highly intensive - so much that the average number of animals on each farm is 1629. The region is followed by Emilia Romagna, and as results the vast majority of farms are concentrated in a very restricted area that touches the provinces of Mantua, Brescia, Reggio Emilia and Modena.

Likewise, Lombardy and Emilia Romagna also hold the lead in the dairy industry, as their territories are home to the largest milk, cheese, and dairy companies in Italy.
Depending on the characteristic of participating companies and on their requests, the program will be divided in two different tracks to allow each company to meet with the most compatible business partners.
