Danish Agri and Food Systems Delegation to Lagos, Nigeria, 13-15 November 2023

The delegation takes place in connection with Nordic Nigeria Connect Conference!

The Embassy of Denmark in Abuja and The General Consulate of Denmark in Lagos together with the Danish Agriculture & Food Council (DAFC) cordially invite you to participate in an exclusive export promotion delegation to Lagos, Nigeria, focusing on Doing Business in Nigeria in Agriculture (Incl. Dairy and Milk Production), Aquaculture and Sustainable Delivery Systems including Cold Chain solutions and FoodLoss reduction.

The delegation is set up to create visibility to Danish companies already present or interested in exploring the Nigerian market within the sectors and meeting with relevant public private stakeholders from both Denmark and Nigeria.

WHY NIGERIA?
Nigeria is Africa's most populous country and largest economy. The country is among the most trend-setting growth markets with great geopolitical importance on the African continent. Nigeria is facing an important green transition, where i.e., energy transition and climate adaptation are important elements. Nigeria reached a population of 220 million and is estimated to be among the world’s top 3 most populated countries in the world in 2050, only topped by India and China.

With the new government in place, headed by President Tinubu, Nigeria clearly state that they are open for business, and focus include the obvious needs for job creation and building on strong capabilities with public private partnerships. To succeed, international investments are required and welcomed as organic growth cannot in full meet the ambitions and needs.

OPPORTUNITIES
In Nigeria 40% of the population live below the poverty level, while at the same time, a State like Lagos, being the commercial center, represent the 5th largest economy in Africa. About 24 million people alone live in megacity Lagos, which also represent the Tech Hub of Africa. The city accounts for 85% of all imports into Nigeria.

Nordic-Nigeria Connect will be used to promote sustainable Nordic solutions in Nigeria and in the megacity of Lagos. The focus will, among other things, be on needs and solutions within sustainable energy, circular economy, food and agriculture, transport and logistics, water and tech.’´

The conference will be opened by the governor from Lagos State and a number of decision makers central to the green transition will attend the event. Solid participation is expected from Danish business, IFU/DSIF and NGOs.
