Agriculture and food delegation, Pakistan, Lahore & Karachi

DAFC and the Royal Danish Embassy in Islamabad invite you to participate in an export delegation to Pakistan focusing on sustainable food and agriculture.

In August 2022, Denmark and Pakistan signed a “Green Framework Agreement”. Danish companies have a strong position within resource-efficient production which can be projected on to the Pakistani market. This delegation to Lahore and Karachi is organized to maximize and explore your business opportunities in the market. With a population of 230 million, Pakistan is the fifth most populous country in the world. The economy of Pakistan is currently the 23rd largest in the world in terms of purchasing power parity – PPP (1.5 trillion USD). Pakistan is one of the largest and potentially the most dynamic FMCG markets in South Asia. By virtue of growing population, young adult demographics, rising middle class, fast pace of urbanization and shift in consumer behavior drives demand for modern food products. Agriculture generates about 22.7% of the total GDP and employs 37.4 percent of the total workforce. Therefore, sustainable growth of the agriculture sector stands vital for food security, economic and rural development in Pakistan. Pakistan is the world’s 5th largest producer of milk and 11th largest producer of poultry. The food and beverage processing industry is the 2nd largest industry of Pakistan. However, 35 to 45 percent of food is lost or wasted from farm to fork. This is primarily due to problems ranging from spillage to lack of proper post-harvest storage, processing, or transportation facilities.

Who should join?
