Business delegation to meet Chilean pig producers

Unique opportunity for companies along the pig value chain

The delegation programme offers a unique opportunity for companies along the pig value chain to tap into the vast business possibilities of the Chilean market.

The Danish Agriculture & Food Council (DAFC) and The Trade Council at Royal Danish Embassy in Chile invite your company to join a business delegation focused on the Chilean pig industry – targeting both primary production and processing. You can expect to meet leading Chilean pig producers through a 3-days programme in Chile taking place 3-6 November 2025. The Trade Council in Denmark is supporting the event financially.

Who should join?

This business delegation highlights the pig production value chain and Chilean market leading companies engaged in both primary production and processing. Participation is relevant for Danish companies in agri-industrial equipment, feed production and mills, stable and housing equipment, ventilation, genetics, food processing technology, biosecurity, salmonella handling, cooling/cold chain, storage quality control and inspection, ingredients, emissions reduction, odour management, waste handling, and advisory services.

This event is particularly valuable for companies that offer solutions to the urgent challenges facing Chilean pig production, such as reducing odour emissions and fighting salmonella and AMR. An ambitious odour emissions law came into force in 2023, and Chilean producers now have to convert their stables to meet the law’s criteria by 2027. At the same time, new restrictions have been introduced to limit the construction of new stables. Combined with increased consumer demand, this means that Chilean producers are looking to improve biosecurity to increase stable efficiency and meat quality.

Why join?

The Chilean pig sector has grown steadily for over 20 years, with an average annual expansion rate of 1.9%. Since 2000, investments in technology and infrastructure have boosted efficiency and quality, strengthening Chile’s international position in agribusiness. Chile’s commitment to sustainability and market expansion presents significant opportunities for foreign businesses to collaborate in advancing technology, infrastructure, sustainable and biosecurity practices while gaining access to emerging markets and developing innovative products.

Key industry priorities include:

  • Biosecurity: Eradicating salmonella and AMR through industry coordination, training, as well as investments in new stables and production facilities.
  • Environmental and sustainable management: Reducing odour emissions from stables and improving waste handling.
  • Digitalisation: Implementing advanced technological solutions to enhance quality assessment, control and inspection.
  • Water efficiency: Engaging international experts and specialists to optimize water use.

DAFC and TC Santiago have previously organised physical and virtual delegations to Chile in 2019, 2020, 2022 and 2024, and the Chilean industry is very aware of Denmark’s position as industry leader.

With this delegation programme, participants are expected to meet the following Chilean companies/industry bodies (to be finally confirmed):

ChileCarne

The organisation is comprised of the companies Agrosuper, Coexca, Comafri, Maxagro, Sopraval and Propavo, representing more than 85% of the total volume of Chilean white meat exports in total. Since 2016, ChileCarne has aimed to promote export following the substantial growth experienced in the sector throughout the last two decades. It facilitates public-private cooperation by advancing a sustainable white meat industry and promoting Chilean meat internationally. It also aims at positioning Chile as a top-quality meat supplier with high standards of health, safety, biosecurity, and sustainability.

Agrosuper

Agrosuper is the market-leader in both pig, poultry and salmon production in Chile with more than 65 years of experience with production and commercialisation of chicken, pork and turkey products and processed foods. Their key focus areas include market expansion and promotion and implementation of innovative and sustainable solutions to increase efficiency and enhance their performance in all areas of production procedures.

Maxagro

Maxagro is Chile’s second largest pork producer and a market leader in fruit production. Since its founding in 1971, the company has developed a vertically integrated operation that spans feed production, fattening, and meat processing. Headquartered in the Santiago, Maxagro operates multiple farms and a modern processing plant with export-grade certifications. The company exports a significant share of its production to markets in Asia, the Americas, and Europe. Maxagro continues to invest in advanced technology and infrastructure, e.g. biogas plants, to improve efficiency and meet global quality standards.

COEXCA

Founded in 2002, COEXCA S.A. is a major player in Chile’s pork industry. Since 2017, Impact Fund Denmark (formerly IFU) has been a large shareholder and on its board of directors. With integrated operations that include breeding farms, feed plants, and a high-capacity slaughterhouse, COEXCA now exports to over 30 countries. The company is among the top pork exporters in Chile, known for its high production standards, animal welfare practices, and commitment to food safety. Ongoing investments in technology and infrastructure continue to boost production efficiency and ensure compliance with international market requirements.
