Agribusiness Delegation to Agadir in Morocco

Opportunities in Morocco - a gateway to Africa

The Danish Agriculture & Food Council in cooperation with the Danish embassy in Morocco are pleased to invite your company to participate in this business delegation to Agadir, Morocco. The delegation is set up to maximize your business possibilities in the country.

The Moroccan Market

With a population close to 37 million, stable economic growth rates during the last decade except for 2020, and the ambitious set of strategies adopted by the government, Morocco represents an attractive country to foreign investors. The country is considered as one of the most affluent countries in the MENA region, both in terms of macroeconomic drivers and political developments.

Opportunities in Morocco

A gateway to Africa

From Morocco, it is easy to reach out for the European, Mediterranean and African markets due to the solid infrastructure and its geo-strategic location in particular. According to the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) index, Morocco is in the top five countries that have improved their business environment the most over the past two decades and ranks first in the MENA region.

The agricultural sector

Agriculture combined with the fishing and forestry sectors employs almost half of Morocco’s workforce. It has as such an outsized impact on the economy with its role as an employer and its role as a major export industry. Morocco has a rich array of agricultural resources and access to rich fishing areas that includes a variety of activities that are all possible target of investment.

In recent years, the government has continued expanding the agricultural sector. In 2020, the government launched its second strategic plan for agriculture, the “Generation Green” plan that sets out the development strategy through 2030. The strategy has a three-pillar focus: support of young entrepreneurs through the mobilisation of land and creation of jobs with a focus on high-value agriculture; human and social development; and the digital transformation of Moroccan agriculture.
