Business Delegation to Bangladesh

Bangladesh is Open for Your Business

The Embassy of Denmark in Dhaka and the Danish Agriculture & Food Council invite Danish companies to participate in a business delegation to Bangladesh focusing on sustainable food systems and Danish solutions across agricultural and food value chains.

This delegation offers a unique opportunity to explore business partnerships, understand market dynamics, and position Danish solutions in one of Asia’s fastest growing economies.

Why Bangladesh?

Bangladesh is one of the fastest-growing economies in South Asia and a compelling destination for agribusiness investment, driven by strong demographic growth, rising consumer demand, and evolving food systems. Bangladesh’s population exceeds 170 million people, with a rapidly expanding urban middle class fuelling demand for higher quality agricultural products and processed foods.

Agriculture remains strategically important for the country’s economy and food security. The sector contributes around 11 – 12 % of GDP, a level higher than the global average for comparable emerging economies and employs a significant share of the workforce. Bangladesh produces more than 70 million tonnes of agricultural output annually, spanning crops, livestock, fruits, vegetables, and fisheries. The agro-processing and food manufacturing sector is expanding rapidly. The domestic processed food market is valued at over USD 8 billion and is growing at around 8 % annually, reflecting rising demand for packaged and convenience foods.

Export prospects are also strengthening. Bangladesh currently exports 700+ agricultural and processed food products to more than 140 countries, with strong growth recorded in recent years. The Government of Bangladesh places high priority on transforming agriculture into a commercially viable and sustainable sector that supports economic growth, food security, and employment generation. Political commitment, sector specific incentives, and growing private sector investment are creating strong opportunities for Danish companies.

Key aspects of the Bangladeshi agriculture and food sector include:

  • Strong domestic demand for safe, high-quality food amid demographic and income growth.
  • Expansion in food processing, cold chain, logistics, and value addition opportunities.
  • Government support and strong policy focus on food safety, productivity improvement, and reduction of food loss
  • Untapped potential in seed systems, climate-smart technologies, and precision farming.
  • Growing interest in sustainable and climate smart technologies

These factors position Bangladesh as a market with both immediate commercial opportunities and long-term growth potential for Danish agribusiness solutions across the value chain.

What is Unique About This Mission?

Participants will gain direct access to key stakeholders across Bangladesh’s agriculture and food ecosystem, including government institutions, private sector leaders, and development partners.

The delegation will combine market insights, business matchmaking, and site visits to ensure companies gain practical understanding and concrete commercial opportunities. The programme is designed to maximize relevance through tailored meetings aligned with each company’s profile.
