Danish Delegation to South Africa

The Embassy of Denmark in Pretoria and the Danish Agriculture & Food Council (DAFC) are pleased to invite your company to join a Danish business delegation to South Africa from 1–5 March 2027.

The delegation will explore opportunities across the entire food and agriculture value chain—from farming and livestock production to food processing, manufacturing, resource efficiency and distribution. It is intended for companies with solutions that can help South African businesses improve productivity, quality, sustainability and competitiveness.

South Africa: opportunities across the food value chain

South Africa has a large and diverse food and agriculture sector, supported by an established industrial base and infrastructure. Its producers and food businesses face challenges in areas such as productivity, water and energy use, food safety, processing capacity and waste management.

These challenges create opportunities for Danish expertise and technology. The delegation will connect Danish companies with relevant South African businesses and organisations to explore practical solutions and potential partnerships.

Who should join?

The delegation is open to companies serving any part of the food and agriculture value chain, including:

• Agricultural production: farm technology, machinery, irrigation, livestock equipment and post-harvest handling

• Livestock and animal production: breeding and genetics, housing, ventilation, feed and biosecurity

• Food processing and manufacturing: processing lines, automation, packaging, ingredients and quality control

• Slaughterhouses and meat processing: equipment, hygiene, food safety, water and energy efficiency, and waste reduction

• Resource-efficient technologies: solutions that reduce water and energy consumption, emissions, by-products and operating costs

• Cooling and storage: refrigeration, cold-chain solutions and storage systems

• Circular and sustainable solutions: including biogas and the recovery or reuse of resources

• Agro-services and advisory solutions that support the sector’s development

Draft programme | 1–5 March 2027 | Pretoria area

Day 1 — Monday 1 March | Arrival in Pretoria

• Arrival in Johannesburg and transfer to the hotel

• Networking dinner for Danish companies (at participants’ own expense)

Day 2 — Tuesday 2 March | Industry overview

• Welcome by the Danish Ambassador

• Presentations by local industry organisations, including RMIS, SAPA and SAPPO, on market conditions and sector priorities

• Parallel workshops focused on relevant parts of the food and agriculture value chain

• Business reception

Day 3 — Wednesday 3 March | Site visits

• Site visits in parallel tracks, with participants selecting the track most relevant to their company

• Lunch meetings near the site visits

• Dinner

Day 4 — Thursday 4 March | Business meetings

• Presentation on education as a cornerstone of Danish agriculture

• Facilitated one-to-one “speed-dating” meetings between Danish companies and South African stakeholders

• Wrap-up and closing remarks by the Embassy’s Economic Diplomacy team and DAFC

Day 5 — Friday 5 March | Departure

• Flights to Denmark

Price

The total price for participation in the business delegation to South Africa is DKK 9,300 excl. flight, hotel and VAT per company for 1 representative and 3 guests at the reception.
Extra representative DKK 2,300 per person. 

NOTE: The Danish company is free to have its local representatives represent your company in full during the event. On the registration form you can, if relevant, therefore add the contact information of the local participating person/company. However, only Danish companies in Denmark with a Danish CVR number can register for participation, and the invoicing will always be issued in DKK to the Danish company address.

We reserve the right to offer you participation at a different price, if any of the above criteria change. Should this result in a higher price than quoted, you have the right to cancel your participation. Other expenses not mentioned above are at your own expense including visa, flights, dining & drink and hotel.

NOTE: The price is based on 7 participating companies, who are all eligible for subsidy, and 75 percent subsidy (already granted) from the Trade Council of Denmark.
If your company is not eligible for subsidy due to de-minimis issues (having received more than 300,000 Euro in de-minimis subsidy within the past 3 years, including the present), you are obliged to pay the full price without the subsidy. The same conditions apply, if you do not wish to receive subsidy.

Hotel and travel information

Flights and hotel are not included in the price. Upon registration, you will receive a travel suggestion.

Registration is made in accordance with DAFC’s terms of participation.
